Our South Africa tour will take you to two of its most popular cities: Cape Town and Johannesburg, as well as its most famous safari reserve, Kruger National Park. You’ll spend 11 days and 10 nights taking in the sights and sounds of Africa’s southernmost country.
Your tour will start in South Africa’s largest city, Johannesburg – aka Jozi , Joburg and the City of Gold. There you will explore the city to see famous landmarks and museums and immerse yourself in the rich culture. You’ll also visit Soweto, Joburg’s largest township and the heart of its apartheid struggle.
Next, you’ll move on to Mpumalanga province where you’ll go on safari and see the Big 5 in their natural surroundings, visit Africa’s oldest caves, and see its biggest green canyon.
Lastly, you’ll head to the beautiful Cape Town, also known as the Mother City. You’ll tour the city and learn about its apartheid history and freedom struggles. You’ll see Robben Island, the infamous prison where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for nearly 20 years for challenging the apartheid system. You’ll shop for African art, jewelry, clothing and more at Green Market Square. You’ll experience wine tastings in the Cape Winelands region, set eyes upon some of the most stunning vistas imaginable along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive, see South Africa’s adorable colony of African penguins, and visit Cape Point, the most southwestern point on the African continent. Your time will end at our Farewell Dinner Party, where you’ll celebrate one last time ahead of your departure home. Come join us for a great time in South Africa.
US citizens don't need tourist visas for travel to South Africa for visits less than 90 days. If you are not a US citizen, check the visa requirements for your country.
There are no required vaccinations for South Africa, except if you are traveling or transiting from a country with risk for Yellow Fever (YF) virus transmission. If you require the YF vaccine, you must present a Yellow Card as proof of vaccination upon arrival. The arrival and departure airport is O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg.
Airfare is not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately by attendees. Round trip flights typically cost $1,000 to $1,500.
Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines seem to have the best routes for this itinerary.
This trip is $2,200 per person for double occupancy and $2,600 for single occupancy. Single occupancy spots are limited.
Yes, 4* hotel accommodations for 10 nights are included. All lodging will be well rated for service and quality.
Yes, airport transfers to/from the hotel or villa are included in the package price. If other attendees are arriving in close time, you will likely be transported together. Air conditioned transportation to all activities on the Itinerary is also included.
Daily breakfast is included. Food will also be provided at the Welcome Dinner, Farewell Brunch and Party and several lunches. Other meals are at your expense.
Alcoholic beverages are only included for specific activities. Champagne, beer and wine will be included during the Welcome Dinner and Farewell Brunch and Party. Other alcoholic drinks are at your expense.
We will spend 10 days in Cape Town, Johannesburg and their surrounds. We will visit city landmarks, museums, monuments, historical sites, and markets. All entrance and activity fees are included for all excursions on the Itinerary.
Yes, although we have daily guided tours and activities, most evenings and one full day will be free for you to relax or explore on your own.
We suggest that you arrive by 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024 in order to get checked in to the hotel and refreshed before our Welcome Dinner that evening
Your tour will officially end following breakfast on Tuesday December 17, 2024. You should schedule your flight to depart anytime after 11:00 am.
While we make every effort to match solo attendees seeking roommates, we cannot promise to find one for you. In the event that no roommate is available, you will be required to pay the single occupancy rate.
Full or partial payment can be made to hold a spot on this trip. If making a partial payment, a non-refundable deposit of $250 USD is required. The deposit is applied towards the total balance due.
Yes, a monthly payment plan is available. Payments are due on the 15th day of each month and all payments must be complete by the final payment deadline of September 30, 2024. All payment plans include a $50 administrative fee.
The trip is non-refundable, but it is transferable. You are permitted to resell your slot to another participant, but Travel Africa Movement is unable to offer a refund. See our Terms and Conditions for more detail.
