Rwanda and Uganda may be next door neighbors, but they couldn’t be more different. Uganda is lively and frenetic, while Rwanda is laidback, modern and serene. We’ll take you there for 9 days and 8 nights to discover the beauty, culture and history of these stunning countries. Your tour will start in Kigali, Rwanda with our Welcome Brunch at the infamous Hotel Milles Collines (the real life Hotel Rwanda). While in Rwanda, you’ll visit the Genocide Museum, an art gallery, a tea plantation, and a milk bar. You’ll also spend time in Nyamirambo, one of Kigali’s oldest and most vibrant neighborhoods. You’ll explore the neighborhood, meet the residents, eat traditional Rwandan food, and be wowed by the colorful street art. After a fun time in Rwanda, next you’ll head to Uganda. The first stop is Jinja, Uganda’s adventure capital and home to the source of the Nile River. You’ll go white water rafting, bungee jumping or quad biking, explore the city, and take a sunset cruise on the Nile. Then you’ll head to Kampala, Uganda’s energetic capital. Along the way you’ll visit waterfalls and a local forest, where you’ll learn about the medicinal properties and local uses of many plants and trees. And you’ll snap iconic pics on the Equator Line. In Kampala you’ll take a city tour and experience its renowned nightlife. Your time in East Africa will end at our Farewell Party, where you’ll celebrate one last time ahead of your departure home. Come join us for a great time in Rwanda and Uganda.

Do I need a passport?

A passport book is required for travel to both Uganda and Rwanda. Your passport must be valid for 6 months after your arrival date and have at least 2 blank pages.

Do I need a visa?

US citizens are required to have tourist visas for both Uganda and Rwanda. Rwanda allows all visitors to obtain a visa on arrival. The cost is $50 USD (single entry) or $70 (multiple entry). Uganda requires travelers to apply for an e-visa online. There are several single and multiple entry types available, ranging in price from $50-$150 USD.

The East African tourist visa (EAV) allows multiple entry into Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya for 90 days and costs $100. The EAV tourist application must be made in the country where your travel will begin. We recommend the EAV for ease and practical reasons. Since our tour begins in Rwanda, you would need to obtain the EAV there.

If you are not a US citizen, check for your country requirements.

Do I need any vaccinations?

Rwanda: The Yellow Fever vaccination is NOT required for visitors UNLESS traveling or transiting from a Yellow Fever endemic or outbreak country.

Uganda: The Yellow Fever vaccine is REQUIRED for all visitors and you must present a Yellow Card as proof of vaccination upon arrival.

The vaccine costs $200-$300 in the US, but may be as cheap as $20 or free in Mexico and Caribbean countries.

Check the CDC Website for more information about required and recommended vaccines and anti-malarial medications:
