About this tour

We’re giving you a taste of Francophone Africa on this tour. You’ll spend 9 days and 8 nights taking in the sights and sounds of one of West Africa’s most vibrant countries: Côte d’Ivoire aka Ivory Coast. Your tour will start in Abidjan, the largest city and economic capital of Ivory Coast, also known as the Paris of Africa. After a fun-filled Welcome Brunch, we’ll take you to the gems of the city, where you’ll learn about its interesting history and culture, taste its delicious cuisine, and shop at its energetic markets. You’ll experience Abidjan’s lively nightlife and revel with the locals as they celebrate their culture, music and history at the Masa Festival. You’ll also visit Yamoussoukro, the political capital and site of the world’s largest church and the presidential palace. Côte d’Ivoire is the world’s largest cocoa producer and you’ll visit a cocoa farm to see how it’s grown and processed. Next, you’ll head to the coast and enjoy its fabulous beaches. Your time in West Africa will end at our Farewell Party, where you’ll celebrate one last time ahead of your departure home. Come join us for a great time in Ivory Coast.

US citizens are REQUIRED to have tourist visas for travel to Côte d'Ivoire. US visitors can obtain an e-visa online. This multiple entry visa is valid for 90 days and costs 73 Euros (approximately $75 USD). This visa can be extended for 3 months or 1 year for an additional fee. If you are not a US citizen, check the visa requirements for your country.

The Yellow Fever (YF) vaccine is REQUIRED for all visitors and you must present a Yellow Card as proof of vaccination upon arrival. If you do not have proof of YF vaccination, you will be required to receive the vaccine on site at the airport for entry. There is limited availability of the YF vaccine in the US, so plan ahead if you need it. Because Côte d'Ivoire is a high-risk malaria country, a malaria prophylaxis is also recommended (optional). Check the CDC Website for more information about recommended vaccines and anti-malarial medications.

There are currently no vaccination or PCR test requirements for arrival to or departure from Ivory Coast. However, passengers must comply with the destination country requirements so proof of vaccination or PCR test is mandatory if required by the destination country.

The arrival and departure airport is the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ) in Port Bouët.

The Masa Festival is a biennial cultural festival held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This weeklong event celebrates Africa and its diaspora and features African music, theatre, dance, comedy, slam poetry and storytelling.

This trip is $2,300 per person for double occupancy and $2,650 for single occupancy. Single occupancy spots are limited.

Yes, hotel or villa accommodations for 8 nights are included. All lodging will be 4-star and well rated for service and quality.

Yes, airport transfers to/from the hotel or villa are included in the package price. If other attendees are arriving in close time, you will likely be transported together. Air conditioned transportation to all activities on the Itinerary is also included.

Daily breakfast is included. Food will also be provided at the Welcome Brunch and Farewell Party. Other meals are at your expense.

Alcoholic beverages are only included for specific activities. Champagne, beer and wine will be included during the Welcome Brunch and Farewell Party. Other alcoholic drinks are at your expense.

We will spend 9 days and 8 nights in Abidjan and its surrounds. In Abidjan, we will visit city landmarks, historical sites, and markets; we'll experience Ivorian culture, dance and music at the Masa Festival; and we'll enjoy the vibrant nightlife. Next we'll move on to the countryside where we'll visit a cocoa plantation and learn about the cocoa production process. We'll also enjoy some beach time and water sports. All entrance and activity fees are included for all excursions on the Itinerary.

Yes, although we have daily guided tours and activities, most evenings and several half-days will be free for you to relax or explore on your own

We suggest that you arrive by 8:00 pm on April 13, 2024, in order to get checked in to the hotel and refreshed before our Welcome Brunch the following morning.

Your tour will officially end following breakfast on April 21, 2024. You should schedule your flight to depart anytime after 12:00 pm.

While we make every effort to match solo attendees seeking roommates, we cannot promise to find one for you. In the event that no roommate is available, you will be required to pay the single occupancy rate.

Full or partial payment can be made to hold a spot on this trip. If making a partial payment, a non-refundable deposit of $250 USD is required. The deposit is applied towards the total balance due.

Yes, a monthly payment plan is available. Payments are due on the 15th day of each month and all payments must be complete by the final payment deadline of February 28, 2024. All payment plans include a $50 administrative fee.

The trip is non-refundable, but it is transferable. You are permitted to resell your slot to another participant, but Travel Africa Movement is unable to offer a refund. See our Terms and Conditions for more detail.
